Wedgwood Development

The consultation period on the WWRD application to develop the site is coming to an end. I am fully aware that some people have misgivings about the scale of the proposed residential development, the impact that the introduction of new homes will have on village life and the ability of the existing infrastucture, including the canal bridge, to cope with the additional pressure of traffic and these thoughts will be reflected in the Parish Council response.

However in my mind the issue that is paramount is that the project will allow WWRD to reorganise and rationalise its manufacturing base, and as a result it will be able to remain close to Barlaston and become more competitive, and it will assist in securing existing employment and could provide a basis for some additional employment in time.

In this difficult time of financial stringency, enterprise and employment are key issues
