The Future of Policing in the Stone Area

posted in: Latest News | 0

Last Thursday evening there was a meeting at Walton Community Centre to consider  the future of local policing in the area. The meeting was chaired by County Councillor Philip Jones and was attended by Bill Cash, the MP for Stone.

The following key points were made by the police repesentatives present:-

There are no plans, despite the overall cuts in police budgets, ro reduce the number of Neighbourhood Police Officers or Police Community Support Officers working in the area.

It is likely that the Stone Police station will close in the near future and accomodation will probably be found in the Stone Council Offices. The Council Offices are just yards away from the current police station. If this move takes place the Police Station front desk will be on the ground floor.

It was reported that crime and anti social behaviour continued to fall in the Stone area.
