‘Save’ Wedgwood Memorial College

There were about eighty people in the Parish Church last night to listen to members of the Save WMC campaign outline their plans to retain an Adult Education facility on the Station Road campus. From comments during question time it was evident that the majority of the audience were supportive of the plans tabled but the magnitude of the task in hand was also clear. The level of the attendance, on a cold, wet  January evening shows that there is local support for retention of the College.

The campaign group were urged to work closely with Stoke City Council to formulate a well thought out and viable business plan at the earliest opportunity.

Today the Cabinet of Stoke City Council meets to finalise the cost reduction proposals needed to ‘balance the books’  in 2012/13 and onwards. The closure of the College will one of the proposals considered. It will be possible to follow the debate live on the Stoke City Council website from 5pm.
